ARTIKA participates in ARCO once again, the biggest international art fair

Lita Cabellut Bodas de sangre ARTIKA

For another year, ARCOMadrid has become a world reference in the contemporary art market with an incredible turnout: 31 participating countries, 203 galleries, 500 collectors and invited professionals, 1,350 artists, emerging and established, who have breathed, from February 26th to March 1st, the best art in the world.

ARTIKA has participated in two areas, on the one hand, showing everyone who has visited the art fair its artists’ books, from authors as valued as Fernando Botero, Antonio López and Jaume Plensa and, on the other hand, presenting its latest work, Blood Wedding by Lita Cabellut. This year’s art fair ARCO 2020 was the chosen venue for the presentation of ARTIKA’s new work Blood Wedding by Lita Cabellut. The Spanish artist, who now lives in The Hague, took up the challenge to reinterpret this classic of world literature, which led her to spend four years pouring body and soul into producing this spectacular artist’s book.

The official presentation event for Blood Wedding featured the presence of the artist herself and the CEO of ARTIKA, Juan Ribalta. The event was also attended by a wide selection of the main media organs, as well as many other figures including the Chairman of Grupo Planeta, José Creuheras.

Lita Cabellut’s emotions and passion were plain to see as she spoke about how she agreed to take part in this project, and what it signified for her life and work, the final result and her admiration for Federico García Lorca. The audience was left enthralled by the words of the artist, who defined the work as more than a book – for her, it is “a throbbing heart”.

Blood wedding is an artist’s book that combines art and literature through the work of two timeless geniuses: Federico García Lorca and Lita Cabellut. A bilingual Spanish-English limited, numbered edition of 1,998 copies (1,898 in Arabic numerals and 100 in Roman numerals), all signed by the artist.
