New Release: Canticle of the Sun, by Joan Miró
In this new edition, ARTIKA pays tribute to Joan Miró’s most complete and mature work with the creation of a new artist’s book. Canticle of the Sun is born from the painter’s inspiration drawn from the poem Canticle of the Creatures by Saint Francis of Assisi, written in 1225.
This work becomes a true ode to nature and to life. The sun, the moon and the stars, wind, water, fire, and earth are the elements Miró portrays, endowing them with presence and prominence. Canticle of the Sun also represents the culmination of his artistic language. Through the use of primary colors and elemental forms, Miró constructs a poetic and universal narrative.
The Art Book brings together 33 engravings by Miró, reproduced with great fidelity, respecting the reliefs and the acid and ink imperfections of the originals. The front and back covers, which reproduce plates 10 and 4, offer a visual preview of the creative universe the artist unfolds throughout the series.

The Study Book provides a unique perspective on Joan Miró’s artistic journey, from his early years to its culmination in this deeply symbolic work. Robert Lubar Messeri, a leading expert on the artist, offers a detailed explanation of the different printmaking techniques Miró employed, as well as the artistic evolution he experienced throughout his life and how he developed such a distinctive visual language.

The two volumes are presented in an emblematic case that recreates engraving number 20 from the collection. Elegant and rich in symbolism, the case is inspired by the form of one of the recurring elements in the artist’s work: water. The piece is completed with Miró’s signature, an element that adds character and turns it into a unique and distinctive object.

Crafted through a meticulous, high-quality artisanal process, this new edition is more than a book: it is a work of art and a collector’s piece, limited to 2,998 copies that hold a unique sensory and emotional experience.
