Jaume Plensa

Jaume Plensa 58

(SOLD OUT EDITION)

A unique and unrepeatable edition of an original sculpture by Jaume Plensa, created specifically for ARTIKA. An authentic work of art that offers us the opportunity to enjoy one of the most internationally renowned sculptors.

ARTIKA presents a work limited and numbered to 998 copies in Arabic numeration and 200 in Roman numeration, all of them signed, one by one, by the artist himself. The sculpture also incorporates Plensa’s original signature in bas-relief.

The striking sculpture, conceived as a case in two pieces, which are easily joined thanks to a system of hidden magnets, is the face of a girl with her eyes closed, Anna, a constant in Plensa’s work, which conveys serenity, emphasizing the concept of inner beauty.

The large-format Art Book invites us on a visual journey through the artist’s recent years of work. A wide selection of photographs with reflections by Plensa himself and quotes from renowned writers. The exhibition is accompanied by a black resin stand with the artist’s name in relief.

«By the hand of Rafael Argullol, the book “Estudio” is an essential reference to know and interpret in depth the work of Jaume Plensa and its evolution.»

A work conceived by the poet of sculpture, whose nuances vary depending on the direction of the light.

PRODUCTION PROCESS

The drawings are captured in a mock-up that is digitized. The original aluminum mold is obtained by means of a lathe.

After being approved by the sculptor, the polyurethane resin is injected into the mold, which is demolded after drying.

Each sculpture is finished with a white mineral filler and carefully polished by hand.

The original mold incorporates Jaume Plensa’s signature in bas-relief.

The books, designed and signed one by one by the artist, are hand-sewn with high quality vegetable thread.

After numbering each copy, the binding of each volume is handcrafted by experts.

The artisan incorporates the covers, dry-stamped, taking care of every detail.

The pedestal, with typography created by the sculptor, is made by hand by adding liquid black resin inside a mold.
