Steve McCurry

Capturing life

McCurry’s visual legacy is revealed in this piece that brings together his 40 most iconic images, personally selected by the artist himself. His mastery of color, light, and composition conveys emotion, closeness, and hope.

An artist’s book celebrating four decades of the iconic and widely recognized portrait of Sharbat Gula, the Afghan Girl. An intimate journey through McCurry’s most powerful photographs, where every image is a heartbeat, a story, an eternal instant.

A limited and numbered edition of 2.998 copies, each signed by the artist

Capturing Life is presented in a striking case featuring the face of the Afghan Girl, cover of National Geographic in 1985. The iconic image with green eyes, printed on acrylic, invites us on a journey across five continents through portraits, landscapes, and moments now part of our collective memory.

«40 original photographs selected by McCurry, a journey through 25 countries, from 1982 to 2023.»

The Art Book is a visual experience that revisits his travels to deserts, jungles, wildlife, and war zones… and the faces and gazes that tell their stories. The images have been printed using Fuji laser technology on high-quality photographic paper, protected by translucent sheets. McCurry personally supervised the entire printing and color process to ensure the highest quality.

The Study Book offers an in-depth analysis of Steve McCurry’s life and work, with essays by Pico Iyer —who reflects on the photographer’s recurring themes— and Mario Calabresi —who reviews McCurry’s career and the challenges he has faced. It also includes first-person commentary by McCurry on the 40 images, along with anecdotes, memories, and personal experiences.

Both volumes are hand-bound. The Art Book’s cover features McCurry’s name in blind embossing; the Study Book cover displays a photo of the artist.

The 40 photos selected by McCurry are glued with three glue points to the Art Book pages, offering an emotional journey across 25 countries, from 1982 to 2023.

In order to ensure the quality, each image includes the printed title, its numbering, and a copyright authenticity seal on the reverse.

Each photo is protected by premium translucent Fedrigoni paper for maximum care and preservation of the 40 original images from the artist.

Steve McCurry’s name is stamped in transparent film on the case’s side. Inside, high-density black foam protects the volumes.

The Afghan Girl portrait is printed on acrylic as the cover of this outstanding case. A true artwork created to be displayed.

All 2.998 numbered and limited-edition copies have been hand-signed by Steve McCurry, sealing his full involvement in the project.

Capturing Life is shipped in a specially designed protective box, as a tribute to the photographer and the 40 images that compose this unique edition.
