Artika’s latest publication commemorates the 125th anniversary of the death of Van Gogh

In this year of 2015, Artika pays homage – in the 125th year since his death – to one of the greatest geniuses in the history of modern art, with a unique work, La mirada de Vincent (Vincent’s gaze), due to be published this coming June.

The sole subject of Artika’s upcoming new publication is the Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh, who in July 1890 shot himself with a revolver in the French town of Auvers-sur-Oise. From that day on, a myth began to grow, the legend of one of the most outstanding and highly-valued artistic creators of all time (even though he only managed to sell one painting in his lifetime). A tireless creator, a self-taught draughtsman and a post-impressionist painter whose canvases are now sold for astronomic sums at auction.

125 years of inspiration is the slogan that has been chosen to commemorate this important anniversary, which has brought together several countries (one of which is Spain) with many different exhibitions, events and activities. Artika is also taking part in this celebration by presenting La mirada de Vincent, a work created in collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum, and which invites the reader to embark on a journey through the life of the brilliant painter, in which we discover the most private side of the artist: his view of the world through his notebooks, the subtlest, most personal part of the Van Gogh legacy. These notebooks reveal not only the brushstrokes and style but also the fragility and sensitivity of one of the most important artists of all time.
